I add plain vinegar to the rise container in my dishwasher. I have bought the pricey “rinse aids” and I think the vinegar does a much better job. I don’t notice any vinegar smell on my dishes either.

My husband and I dig up old bottles as a hobby to display. My problem is how do you clean the insides. Soaking doesn’t help, nor shaking them with soapy water. Any ideas from someone that has encountered this problem? Thanks.

I like to use tee tree oil to clean mold in the bathroom. In a 1 quart spray bottle, fill almost 3/4 full and add 30 to 40 drops of tee tree oil and about 1 to 2 tablespoons of liquid dish detergent. I like to use Liquid Dawn. Spray the area that has the mold. Then wait 5 to 10 minutes and wipe with wet cloth and rinse. Can be repeated if mold is not removed the first time.

One chore I used to hate was cleaning the microwave. Now I simply put a cup of water (microwave safe) in the microwave and heat until at a full boil. Turn off the microwave and allow the hot water to sit in the closed microwave for 10-15 minutes. Then wipe the microwave clean with a moist clean rag or towel. No chemicals to harm anyone.

The easiest and most frugal way to shine silver, silverplate and brass is with Tide and tinfoil! Line the bottom of a plastic tub with tinfoil, shine side up, throw in some of the powder detergent and let the silver soak for about 25 minutes. The chemical reaction oxidizes the tarnish and you can wipe it clean!
